Dungeons & Diapers Archives
Achievement Unlocked! 50 episodes for Dungeons and Diapers and the boys celebrate by inviting loyal listener and Star Wars scholar Jordan Blythe to come on board and break down all the latest Star Wars announcements, from books to video games, TV shows, movies and beyond. The boys then get into full spoiler territory for Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Warning: There is a high level of gushing ahead (and spoilers). All of this, and thoughts on Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as well! In roman numerals, 50 is an L but this episode is clearly a W. Come listen!
On the last Dungeons and Diapers before the holidays, Ryan reflects on his return to work and offers deep thoughts on his local pandemic-friendly Santa Clause parade. Crofton is almost in holiday mode as he decorates the tree and plays Dragon Quest XI with his young daughter. But there is a shadow that looms over the proceedings, a shadow by the name of Cyberpunk 2077. Listen to Ryan and Crofton go to town on Cyberpunk with some choice ranting – but perhaps not in the way you expect. (Be sure to check out the Digital Foundry video comparing performance on all last gen consoles) Jack in and listen!
Ryan and Crofton are now actively holiday planning but looks like they – like all of you – are staying home this year. Crofton’s planning started in earnest as he celebrated his wife’s birthday, cementing his role of Best Husband Ever. This is all the more impressive as he balances a full slate of videogames including Hitman, Spider-Man and Overcooked Man. Meanwhile, Ryan runs through his family’s Xmas traditions which now includes saying Bugsnax as many times as he can. All that and an impromptu Jackbox Party Pack tutorial! Come listen!
Ryan and Crofton are back with another Kids TV Show Review, this time looking at the first episode of Paw Patrol Dino Rescue! Do dinosaurs and Paw Patrol mix well? Has Ryan cursed himself by allowing his kids to understand that the Paw Patrol show is a toy factory? Will Crofton sing the Jurassic Park theme song? Find out on this new Dungeons and Diapers Mini!
The boys are back to commiserate about the misery that is Canadian November before getting into the fun stuff that is tv and games. They spin some webs as Miles Morales (just not on PS5) before Ryan plugs his new favourite Australian sketch comedy series. In a rant heavy episode, Crofton lets loose on the new gaming consoles before settling down with sweet stories about how his daughter has graduated to a big girl bed. Ryan’s latest addition Isabelle continues to grow at super speed as well. It is true what they say: blink and you’ll miss something. All this and the first of (likely many) Christmas chats as well! Come listen!
Crofton teaches Ryan what Happy Endings are on this episode of Dungeons and Diapers, that is to say an entertaining cancelled too soon sitcom that he has been watching. Ryan counters by singing the praises of The Mandalorian, following its first episode. One thing the boys can uniformly agree on is that Halloween is awesome despite the pandemic. From candy hunts to Ghostbusters, they enjoyed it all. And now you can too… come listen! Be sure to stick around after the outro music, as we have a bit of bonus content for all you lovely listeners.
The leaves are changing colour, the temperature is dropping, Halloween is coming, but one thing remains constant: the insane global pandemic. Crofton’s mental state is fragile and not helped by the brutal Dark Souls of Mario: Super Mario Sunshine. Luckily Hades, and to a lesser degree, Ryan, are there to cheer him up! Speak of the devil, Ryan talks this year’s All Hallow’s Eve with his possible kid prep and a great new podcast recommendation. He closes it up with thoughts on how he can get Abby to “let it go” with Frozen-inspired potty training. Come listen!
Crofton and Ryan are back it, talking about their favourite in television, video games, and…. scooters? Ryan is up Schitt’s Creek without a paddle and Crofton has to overcome his Canadian TV prejudices to join him. One thing they both can agree on is how awesome the new video game Hades is. It says a lot about 2020 that it is more fun to go to hell but here we are. All of that plus Mario makes his usual appearances in both LEGO and Galaxy form. Come listen!
In this extra-long Dungeons and Diapers, Ryan and Crofton commiserate about the dystopian hellscape they now inhabit, with their sole comfort being… pumpkin spice. Also, video games and TV shows – even children’s shows as Ryan breaks out his first kid review for Extra Life on Noddy’s Toyland Detective. With all the stuff in this one, we might just have to go with a list. It includes: Ghost of Tsushima final thoughts, Mario All-Stats first thoughts, return to school, COVID testing, Netflix’s High Score, and more. Finally, find out if Ryan decides to snip the cord, no not that one, the other one! Come listen!
